Second DME Alumni Home Coming 2019
Department of Mechanical Engineering
(DME) in collaboration with the office of Alumni International Islamic
University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized the Second DME Alumni Get together &
Dinner at the new campus of the university. The event was attended by
Vice-President (HS&R) Prof. Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik, Chairman DME Dr. Athar Masood,
and Assistant Director IIUI Alumni Office Mr. Muhammad Ashraf.
The get together comprised speeches given by
the Chairman DME, welcoming the Alumni and how the Alumni is essential to the
institute and how proud their Alma mater is for achieving such milestones in
their professional lives.
The chief guest Prof. Dr. Afzal Khan
enlightened the environment and suggested to focus on career than salary. He
suggested that he would go with students to get them jobs. He mentioned that
now a days employment is hard to get and focusing on salary packages instead of
employment keeps the individual unemployed. The chief guest mentioned that IIUI would remain in touch with alumni and
alumni should keep in touch with the university as this can further strengthen
the pursuit of objectives of the university and alumni together.
Mr. Muhammad Ashraf Assistant
Director Alumni Office talked to the alumni and assured them that the IIUI
alumni office is striving hard to achieve a great goal for all, he mentioned
the office is displaying job opportunities provided by the Alumni and urged the
alumni to share any job vacancies or internships with the university to help
students benefit. He also assured them that the alumni cards are coming soon.
Alumni also participated in
motivating the students and share their experiences about how life is after
graduation. Mr. Zain ul Abideen working in an MNC shared his experience of how
the job market is and what to expect from the new market opportunity.
Mr. Ahmad Adnan talked about the
hurdles and opportunities and scope of having a PHD and getting a scholarship
from abroad. Captain Salaman an army personnel and Alumni shared his knowledge
and area of expertise. Mr. Waqar Ahmed discussed the opportunities of HVAC and
being an Entrepreneur provides more opportunities and development than a 9-5
job does.
Around 130 DME Alumni & Guests
attended the event. The DME prestigious Alumni Prof. Dr. Afzal Khan Academician
in COMSATS University and Engr. Zain, Project Manager in Huawei shared their
experiences and thoughts about the Alumni program. After the event the guests
and the Alumni of IIUI visited the DME building and had a gathering at dinner,
where all shared their experiences and their life at IIUI.
